DIY Decorative Shoe Box

There are always some small knick-knacks that clutter your side boards or table tops, while indispensable they are however a sore sight if you are visual-clutter-free-space freak like me. This little project is super easy and so customization friendly, you can chose a paper or washi tape or even ribbons that are in-sync with your color palate to jazz up the box further. To start with you need a shoe box of your size requirement, mine was not in the best shape but it fit the bill in the size department.

The raw materials used were pretty much your average stationary basics. Here have a look…

I measured all the sides of the box and leaving 1 cm extra I cut the paper and then used fevibond (quickbond pictured here) to stick it on the surface, you can also use fevicol or fevistick but I just prefer the finish I get with the other product (there is however a strong smell so leave the box open for a day or two initially).

I used another paper altogether for the inside because I loved the white-gold-red combination and the contrast of the paisley and polka dots. Please remember to leave 1 cm extra in order to get seamless finishes.

Now, coming to the lid I could have easily wrapped it in some more paper but It was enough pattern for me on the box so I wanted something solid to block all that pattern. So i spray painted the top lid with golden accents, you can easily use any other craft paint.

This is how it looks now and I am pretty happy with how it sits on my side board gobbling all this essential clutter out of sight.

Here we have a candid before and after.
